But saving time on cleaning is the ultimate goal. Nobody wants to spend their day cooped up in the house scrubbing the bathroom! But let’s face it these are things that need to get done and I set out to find the most efficient and eco-friendly way to do so for my home. Here are 8 hacks that worked best for me!

Use a cleaner that cleans everything
All-purpose cleaners are a homeowners best friends when it comes to cleaning. They are an amazing time saver because they clean just about everything. There are many DIY recipes that you can make, and you will save a ton of money not buying those name brand cleaners that are bad for your health. However, the most simple solution I found effective was vinegar and lemons.
One of my favorite DIY all-purpose cleaners is:
Ingredients:
-5 cups water
-1 cup vinegar
- Simply fill a spray bottle with solution
- Get cleaning
You will have a fantastic disinfectant that cleans and is safe to use.
2) Keeping tile clean
Tile is notorious for getting slippery and greasy especially on our backsplash which is exposed to oils and water. These are areas that we are constantly wiping down to ensure that not only they look great, but don’t collect a build up. Tile cleaners that we purchase are full of harmful chemicals that we don’t want around our loved ones. I love to use this hard-to-beat DIY solution for my tiles.
Ingredients:
-½ cup of baking soda
-enough liquid dish soap to form a paste
-Two or three drops of your favorite essential oils for an amazing scent!
- Add liquid soap to the baking soda stirring until bubbles form
- Then add essential oils
- Apply the paste to a sponge or brush and clean away!
3) Stoves and Ovens
This is one of my worst nightmares to clean.I will avoid it at all cost, but eventually it has to be my turn! I refuse to use those breathtaking store bought products that cause us to inhale harsh chemicals. Believe it or not there is a safe way to remove grease, grime, and stains from your stove and oven.
Ingredients:
-Liquid Soap
-Borax
-Hot Water
- Combine these three ingredients
- Spread the mixture in the area to loosen the particles
- Then wipe clean with a rag or towel
4) Cleaning the sink
The kitchen and bathroom sink can turn into a dirty, slimy mess over time, especially if you don’t clean it daily(which I’m sure many of us don’t). I again have a simple homemade solution for you! Say bye, bye to nasty chemicals!
Ingredients:
-2 cups baking soda
-Liquid dish soap
-A couple drops of water
-3 drops of Lemon essential oil
- Simply mix ingredients together and pour into a spray bottle
- Spray the solution and wipe with rag
This will not only clean the sink, but deodorize them as well! TIP: Use a sponge or brush to get those tough to reach places.

Forget those expensive window cleaners! You can create your own brand at home that works even better! This solution will be good for mirrors, windows, and other glass surfaces. I honestly believe that this works better than the store bought ones.
